Hot rolled steel is recognized for its versatility and value. This type of steel is ideal for construction projects, including frameworks for buildings and bridges, as well as for manufacturing rail tracks and other large structural elements. Its surface has a slightly rough, powdery texture due to its distinctive black oxidation, commonly referred to as scale.
Customer Benefits:
Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled steel is a derivative of hot rolled steel that has been further processed to improve its usability and performance. After the initial hot rolling process, the steel is “pickled” by being run through an acidic solution to remove the scale that forms on the surface during the heating process. Following pickling, the steel is coated in oil to prevent rust and corrosion. This additional treatment makes HRPO a preferred choice for applications where surface quality and resistance to rust are important.
Customer Benefits:
Cold rolled steel offers enhanced strength and a smoother surface compared to its hot rolled counterpart, making it suitable for applications requiring high precision and aesthetic appeal. It finds extensive use in the automotive industry for parts and panels, in appliances for exteriors and internal mechanisms, and in the creation of metal furniture and home fittings. This steel’s improved surface finish also makes it a popular choice for projects requiring a high-quality paint or coated finish.
Customer Benefits:
Coated steel is engineered for longevity and resistance to environmental challenges. By applying a protective coating, such as zinc or a polymer-based layer, this steel combats corrosion and wear, significantly extending its useful life. This makes it an excellent choice for outdoor construction materials like roofing and siding, automotive components exposed to harsh conditions, and appliances or fixtures subject to frequent use or contact with moisture.
